CRAU PERSONALITY
Sam's time in The Games has changed him quite a lot. He'd barely decided to come out of retirement when he was shoved right back into a messy war, and one that he at first had no personal stake in other than staying alive and getting back home. Participating in three arenas got him used to constantly fighting to stay alive, to shooting first and asking questions later. Killing someone means less when there's a pretty good chance you're gonna be sitting in a bar having a drink with them after the arena's end, and he learned quickly that it was more about keeping people entertained than anything else.

By now, Sam's used to pretenses, to hiding what he really means in cryptic conversation and using covers and subterfuge. It's second nature for him to keep interactions surface level in public or with people he doesn't know, and he's gotten very good at leading a double life and trying to keep people's focus only on the "secrets" he wants them to see. When Sam came to the Games, he hadn't tested the skills he'd learned after Riley's death - but now he's seen enough of his friends die that he's had to, and he found himself relying more on his support system of people than anything else.

On top of all of that is the Capitol brainwashing and experimentation. Sam's done a very good job of not processing any of it and focusing on winning the war, on just getting stable enough to be trusted to complete missions. He hasn't come to terms with what it means for him in the long run, with what his future's going to be like, or even with how he's changed. He can keep up appearances, but the foundation he'd built for himself is far from stable.

Sam struggles with trusting anyone these days - especially himself. He's killed more people than he can count, both out of a conscious choice and while under the Capitol's control, and he has no problem killing again to protect the people he loves. He knows that he still hasn't sorted out what's going on in his head, that he doesn't have a full idea of the things he can do, and that lends itself very easily to paranoia.

It's not a true telepathy, nor can he control them, but he can communicate with them effectively enough to gather information from them or just socialize.

  + metal wings that fold in on themselves and are stored under the skin of his back, with thrusters built into the "feathers" and vents just under his ribs
  + cybernetic transmitter wired into his brain that allows him to tap into radio and comm frequencies
  + enhanced vision based on the goggles from his former exo-7 suit, including a head's up display
